UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak launched the UK-India Young Professionals Scheme on Wednesday. Under this scheme, up to 3,000 visas annually will be offered to Indian students and professionals aged between 18 and 30 to live and work in the UK for 24 months. Similar offer is granted to British nationals in India.

While launching the scheme, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak called it a great step in ensuring the smooth movement of top talent between markets.

The UK visa policy for India includes three visa solutions, a Skilled worker Visa, Start up visa, and an Innovator visa. Check details on the skilled work visa and how to apply for the same below.

The UK Skilled Worker visa program is for candidates who hold a job offer from an approved UK-based employer. This visa has replaced the Tier 2 (General) work visa.

How to apply for UK Work Visa?

  • The application process will be carried online on – gov.uk
  • Fill in the application form and answer in English
  • Pay the Visa fee online (as applicable)
  • Book and attend an appointment at a visa application centre
  • Pay the health surcharge
  • Save your biometrics took (fingerprints and photo) for a biometric residence permit
  • Now, submit your application and save it

    Biometrics details

    To complete your application, you must provide your biometrics (fingerprints and facial photograph). To proceed further, candidates will be required to go to the designated VAC in their areas.

  • You have been offered a skilled job in the UK
  • You’ll be working for an approved UK employer
  • Your job meets the minimum salary requirements
  • You can speak, read, write and understand English
  • UK Work Visa: Required documents

  • Your certificate of sponsorship reference number provided by your employer
  • Proof of your knowledge of English
  • A valid passport or another document that shows your identity and nationality
  • Your job title and annual salary
  • Your job’s occupation code
  • The name of your employer and their sponsor licence number (would be available on your certificate of sponsorship)
