Looking for work online

Looking for work online

Many employers and recruitment agencies advertise job and training opportunities via social media including Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. To keep up to date with current training and employment opportunities, you can create a profile and like individual company and agency pages on Facebook, and follow companies or agencies on Twitter. On LinkedIn, you can create a personal account and after entering details about your skills and experience, the site will recommend jobs for you.

Be careful about how much personal information you share publicly when setting up an online profile, and always check your security settings. Some employers will look at a job applicant’s social media profiles as part of the recruitment process, so make sure you avoid posting anything offensive or embarrassing photos of yourself.

The following Facebook pages are a good place to start if you’re looking for jobs online:

  • Tees Careers (National Careers Service/CfBT)
  • Middlesbrough Jobs
  • Teesside Jobs
  • Jobs in Teesside
